Photo: from Google Tegan: she's definitely worthy of love The hall was decorated beautifully. Colors hung from pillars to posts, and walls. The likes of red, green, white or silver. A few tables were set at different angles. They were covered with white clothes and filled with assorted drinks. Only a few chairs were stationed too. It was a party after all, for dancing and celebrating, not for sitting. The people at the party too were dressed in exquisite clothes. Some in red, some in white, some a combination of both colors.  Fashion Today workers did know how to dress, but then again, they were a fashion magazine. It was expected of them to look magnificent always. Tegan sashayed through the mist of people, greeting, talking, laughing. Some were bidding her farewell, some were sad that she was leaving. She tried to maintain a mirthful state, to avoid crying. She had good memories with Fashion Today, she had to maintain her composure. She got to a table and found a bottle of...

Cheers to new beginnings Tegan: she's a goal getter Dozie sat at the dining and thought about all his plans. The first was to move out the next year. Andy could use a flat mate and it would be nice to have a place of his own. His writing jobs were increasing and soon he might actually be able to make his blog bigger. About a month ago, his relationship with Tegan ended. It seemed like he’d have a little light at the end of his tunnel soon. He’d heard rumors of her resignation from people at the office. Shade always wailed about how she’d miss Tegan if the rumors were true. She wondered why Tegan wanted to leave a job she was not only good at, but successful in it. Dozie knew why. The rumors were confirmed, after the mini Christmas party at Fashion Today. Tegan told Lola she wouldn’t be returning the next year. Lola in turn told Shade, who told Kunle and him and every other person with ears. Tegan hadn’t told him personally and he didn’t ask her too. He didn’t want to bother her, ...

Best Christmas Ever

“I am dreaming of a white Christmas.. Just like the ones I used to know…  Where the treetops glisten and children listen.. To hear sleigh bells in the snow…” “Which white Christmas are you dreaming of?” My cousin, Lotachukwu teased me as I sang along to Irving Berlin’s popular song blasting from my phone. It was one of my favorite Christmas songs and it kept me sane as I decorated our grandparents living room with Christmas decorations. “You just want me to talk, Lota,” I answered her, hanging the Christmas lights above the portraits of my grandparents on the wall. “Neche, you just have to answer, because we don’t have white Christmas here in Udi.” Lota put up the other decorations at the other end of the living room. “We have white Christmas na, harmattan. Your skin will be white,” I joked. She burst out laughing, “aunty, biko, that’s not the white Christmas I want. I want snow. Lots of snow and the sleigh bells. With a lot of Christmas cookies and cakes and—” “Snap out of ...

Photo from Google: somewhere in the Maldives Tegan: beautiful “I can’t believe you kept this to yourself for three weeks, Tegan Maduka!” Taylor exclaimed, clearly exasperated. They were sitting on Taylor’s bed, in her old room, in the house they had both shared. Some of her things were still in the house. She hadn’t been there since the wedding because she had gone on her honeymoon. “It’s not a big deal. People break up all the time,” Tegan replied nonchalantly. “Well, you’re not people. You’re my twin sister and I feel like I should have been there for you.” “Mrs. Udezue, you were on your honeymoon, remember,” Tegan reminded her, “in the Maldives.” “I was only a phone call or a WhatsApp message away, Tee!” Taylor scolded. “I didn’t want to bother you with my issues.” Tegan justified her actions. Taylor took in a deep breath, before she spoke again. “You’ve always been good at hiding your feelings. And the only reason you did get away with this for so long is because I wasn’t wit...
