Coincidence Finale

Amara was having palpitations as she read through the comment section of the post. “This girl is just a gold digger, no be say she fine sef…” “All these women that work for successful men, always looking for a way to bring them down.” “I just went through her page😂😂, she’s a serious lowlife…” “Ahan, Folake would be heartbroken, I hope she’s ok…” “These pictures sef, who took them…” “I saw pictures of her at Ngozi Peters’ party, clearly kissing ass…” “I can’t believe this,” she said to Ngozi’s hearing. “Like everyone has assumed I’m the bad guy.” They were both sitting in Ngozi’s car outside Luc’s house waiting for him. Ngozi snatched the phone from her and locked it. “This shit ain’t healthy for you.” Amara sniffled, eyes red from crying. “What would you have me do?” “I’d have you stay away from social media and all the nonsense flying around,” Ngozi answered her. “I told you I got this under control.” “I can’t stay idle. I have to—” “You’ll talk to Lucas and then you’ll hand i...

Daramola looked at his wristwatch. She was late and it pricked him. He glanced at the entrance to the reserved area of the restaurant, hoping for a glimpse of her when his eyes rested on a painting on the wall. He stared open-mouthed at it. It was of a lake. The water was still and as clear as a crystal. Lavenders and lilacs graced the scene too. As well as red roses and white lilies. The sky above was as bright as day, so he thought the artist must have painted during the day. How long he or she had taken to capture such a masterpiece, he would never know or care. He mentally traced his fingers over the painting and knew that he would either be getting it or something similar to it. It spoke to him in ways he couldn’t understand. The painting might bring him peace, a peace he had been searching for. He had wanted to feel peace in the purest of forms for a long time but had long given up on that dream. There was no sleep for the wicked, right? Somehow, he believed that the painti...

Photo from Google Birthdays were one of the most important celebrations in life for Ngozi Peters and she never took them for granted. She made sure friends and family were happy on their birthdays. If she could make others happy on theirs, then it’s safe to say she has to be ecstatic about hers. As her important day drew close, she planned what could be her best birthday party ever with her best friend. When the birthday came, Amara made sure she sent her a birthday cake and some gifts. Ngozi had called her to scream at the wonderful surprise. It made Amara happy that her friend was happy. Even Lucas had called Ngozi to wish her a happy birthday. They had both silently agreed to lay down their weapons. It pleased Amara even more. Ngozi had planned that her party would be the Saturday after her birthday and it lazily came by. All the necessary arrangements had been put in place for the boat cruise. They’d take the route for about two hours then dock on a private beach resort, befo...

Photo: from Google You’ll probably see a lot of this this period. You have definitely seen a lot of this in previous years. Anyway, It’s another year ending. With a lot of people looking back at their lives throughout the year. Some measure their goals and what they have achieved. Yet some others are unhappy with little goals accomplished. Others are just glad that they are alive, cos they saw shege pro max.🥺 Some are busy trying to cut off more people from their lives.🙄 Others are adding more people who are worth it. Then there are some still with the “new year, new me” syndrome. Some others planning new year’s resolutions they’ll practice on January 1st and forget about till the next January 1st. Some thinking of all the plans for the new year. Others, just winging it. Some had new lives added to their families. Others lost loved ones.🥺 And miss them every day. Why am I going on and on about what people do or think about at the end of the year? Hehehehe! I guess I just like...

Photo: From Google “Hashtags Saturdays are for weddings,” was a common trend in Nigeria. Lagos wasn’t left out of it. It had started to feel like the entire single population of Nigeria was all getting married at the same time. Amara had forgotten she had agreed to accompany Olaitan to a wedding the Saturday she was supposed to have dinner with Luc. She almost screamed when Olaitan reminded her during the week. She wrinkled her nose as Olaitan reiterated that it was her brother’s wife’s cousin’s wedding and how fun it was going to be. And she began to question why she had agreed to go at all. Olaitan wasn’t going to take no for an answer, so Amara settled in her mind that she would be stressed that day. Her dinner was at 7 pm. She would attend the wedding with Olaitan, leave early and make it back for her date. Her problem was she didn’t want to be tired before her date. Lagos traffic would do that to you. And the wedding was in Yaba. “It’s a big owambe, somebody’s son can fi...
