Hit and Run V

The day started well enough. It was a beautiful Saturday morning, the air was chilly from the rain the previous night. The sky, the mirror image of the sea surrounding the island, with puffs of white here and there like waves splashing. Daberechi decided to exercise that morning. She left home at 6:45 am to the estate gym, not too far from her house. She had her earphones on as she worked out and the music filtered into her thoughts, making her feel calm. She had been careful with Mr. Johnson the past week, not letting him take major decisions concerning the business, stripping him of some tasks, while being affable about everything. She also consulted another surveyor instead of Kanyisola. So far, none of them noticed anything different about her. If they did, they didn’t make it known. After her little rendezvous with Kaycee and the sparks of passion she felt around him, she made a mental note not to be alone behind closed doors with him again. She finished her workouts and packed her things to leave.
“Good morning”, said a good looking young man to her, distracting her from her thoughts. She hadn’t heard him cos of her headphones but she read his lips. She wasn’t interested in getting acquainted with anyone, so she smiled and kept walking to her car, hoping to give the guy a hint she wasn’t interested. But obviously, they never got the hint, he followed her to her car talking and smiling and asking her name.  She removed her headphones and spoke as politely as she could, “I’m sorry, but I’m not interested in talking or getting to know you, have a good day.” She got into her car and the guy ran to his car with the intent of following her. Is he insane? she thought watching him in her rear view mirror. She drove quickly hoping to get home before he got the chance to talk again. She honked her horn at her gate and Hassan quickly opened the gate. “Lock the gates quickly”, she instructed him. Before he could do so, the guy drove too fast and bumped hard into Hassan, leaving him unconscious and bleeding. Daby got out of her car, fully exasperated. “Are you crazy, are you an animal, you’ve probably killed him”, she screamed at the strange guy who had also got out of his car. Daby ran to Hassan, hoping to get a pulse.  She bent beside him, leaving herself defenseless and didn’t notice the man bring out something from his pocket behind her. He covered her mouth with a small towel. Her inhalation reflex made her inhale the pungent smell that came from the towel before she tried to wriggle free. She was utterly shocked how her world went black so quickly.
Jake stared at the two bodies laying close to each other, the man in a pool of blood, probably dead, and the lady, the one he actually came for, unconscious. He lifted the lady and put her in the boot of his car, quickly, before anyone cane out of the house or someone from the street. Luckily for him, because of the quietness of the estate, no one noticed what had happened. He scanned his environment, making sure he wasn’t watched, then drove off, leaving Hassan bleeding.
Kaycee knew Vixen would kill him if he came by the house, but he had been calling her all morning and she wasn’t answering. It was unlike her, he had information she needed and he kind of just wanted to see her and make her nervous from his mere presence. He smiled at that thought. He parked his car beside the house but noticed the gate was ajar. That’s not a good sign, before he could take another step, he saw Hassan on the floor, not moving. “Shit”, he ran to the man to check for a pulse, he felt nothing. He quickly made a phone call, “Sarah, this is Kaycee, there’s an emergency, send an ambulance.” He gave Sarah the address and ended the call. He took out his gun from his pocket and noticed Daby’s car door open, he went towards it and saw her headphones and her phone inside. “What happened here?” He walked into the house, moving quietly. He checked everywhere and saw no one, before he came out of the house. He made another call to his investigation agency. “I think we have an abduction situation, be on the lookout for Daberechi Ekeh.” He got to Hassan again and tried to stop the bleeding with pieces of cloth he found inside his house. “Hang in there, man, help is on the way”, he spoke calmly to the motionless man. He got into his car and drove towards the security post at the estate entrance, “God, let her be okay, please, how do I find her?” he spoke sadly. “I’m going to kill anyone who hurts her, I will”, he kept hitting his steering wheel.
Jake drove towards an empty building on a deserted street, beside the Lagoon. He parked his car beside it and opened the boot. The lady had begun to stir. He took out ropes to tie her hands and legs, he put a tape over her mouth before he lifted her out of the boot. Daby opened her eyes and tried to figure out where she was, then it struck her. She tried to scream only to realize she couldn’t open her mouth or move her hands or legs for she had been tied. My God, she was on the body of a man and she had no idea where she was. Jake entered the building and opened a door. He locked it before throwing her carelessly on the ground. Daby winced in pain as her knee hit the concrete ground hard. Jake laughed, “I can see why the boss likes you”, he said, tracing his finger down her face. Daby tried to move away from him but she was already close to a wall. She looked him in the eye with so much confidence and tried the knots on her hands, hoping for a loose end, she wasn’t going to show him she was afraid or anything. “You are a pretty little thing”, Jake continued, watching her struggle, “too bad you’ll be dead after the boss tastes every part of you”, he looked at her lasciviously. “But that’s the way I like it, I’ll still have a taste of you the very way I like it.”  Daby stopped moving and stared in complete horror at the man, shocked to her bones. She had never met a necrophiliac or even thought of seeing one in Nigeria, and now, the first she met might get a chance to do whatever disgusting deed he did with her body. “God, please get me out of here”, she prayed silently, “I can’t die and be used again.”
Jake laughed like a demon as he saw her terrified face. He switched off the lights of the room with Daby making muffled cries for help. He locked the door and took out his phone to make a call, soon he’ll have his money and his pleasure.
